Growing up just north of Boston, fall easily becomes your favorite season. Pumpkin and apple picking, driving up to Vermont for fresh maple syrup and getting a beautiful view of all the fall foliage. Trust me – what you are currently day dreaming of is spot on. So it was only natural that I create something sweet that incorporates two of my favorite New England things – maple syrup and pumpkin.
Making icing, in general, is wicked easy. Simply whisk the confectioners sugar, maple syrup and pumpkin pie spice together in a small bowl until it thickens to a creamy consistency.
** A fork will also work for mixing everything together
** If it’s too thick to drizzle add a little oat or almond milk (>1tbsp.)
** If you don’t have confectioners sugar (I didn’t) you can use 1/2 to 1/3 of a bag of regular cane sugar in a food processor (I use my Vitamix on level 1 and slowly move it up and test the consistency with my fingers)
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tbsp milk (oat/almond work) if needed – I used TJs Dairy free Maple Oat Milk
(SO DARN GOOD)
I hope this icing embodies the spirit of all things fall for you, just as much as it does for me!! Be sure to let me know what you put this icing on!
